Sunday before Ascension

Service online @9’

Welcome to our Sunday Before Ascension online worship service – Whilst we can’t gather in the same space, we can gather together at the same time to worship God, to pray with Him, and to learn together from Him. So we are encouraging people, where possible to use this order of service on Sunday at either 9am or 11am. (But feel free to use it any time). We pray that as we gather, the Holy Spirit will meet with us, comfort, encourage and teach us, as we worship.

New: Alternative Video Streamed Service - This week we have also recorded a service that you can watch on YouTube – Just follow this link – We’d love your feedback –

Christ is Risen – He is Risen Indeed – Alleluia!

O Lord, open our lips
All and our mouth shall proclaim your praise.

Your throne has been established from of old;
All  You are from everlasting. Alleluia

Prayer of thanksgiving
Blessed are you, Lord of heaven and earth,
to you be glory and praise for ever.
From the darkness of death you have raised your
Christ to the right hand of your majesty on high.
The pioneer of our faith, his passion accomplished,
has opened for us the way to heaven
and sends on us the promised Spirit.
May we be ready to follow the Way
and so be brought to the glory of his presence
where songs of triumph for ever sound:
Blessed be God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

All Blessed be God for ever.

SONG – King of Kings, Majesty (Cooper)  (Click Here)

Lord God, our maker and our redeemer,
this is your world and we are your people:
come among us and save us.
We have wilfully misused your gifts of creation;
Lord, be merciful:

   forgive us our sin.
We have seen the ill-treatment of others
and have not gone to their aid;
Lord, be merciful:

   forgive us our sin.
We have condoned evil and dishonesty
and failed to strive for justice;
Lord, be merciful:

   forgive us our sin.
We have heard the good news of Christ,
but have failed to share it with others;
Lord, be merciful:

  forgive us our sin.
We have not loved you with all our heart,
nor our neighbours as ourselves;
Lord, be merciful:

   forgive us our sin.

Almighty God,
who in Jesus Christ has given us
a kingdom that cannot be destroyed,
forgive us our sins,
open our eyes to God’s truth,
strengthen us to do God’s will
and give us the joy of his kingdom,
through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your people
   and kindle in us the fire of your love.
All who are led by the Spirit of God
are children of God and fellow-heirs with Christ.

   Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your people.
Renew the face of your creation, Lord,
pouring on us the gifts of your Spirit,

   and kindle in us the fire of your love.
For the creation waits with eager longing
for the glorious liberty of the children of God.

   Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your people
   and kindle in us the fire of your love.

The Collect of the day
Grant, we pray, almighty God,
that as we believe your only-begotten Son our Lord
Jesus Christ
to have ascended into the heavens,
so we in heart and mind may also ascend
and with him continually dwell;
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.

The Lord’s Prayer is said
Rejoicing in God’s new creation,
as our Saviour taught us, so we pray

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours
now and for ever. Amen.

Or – Days of Elijah (Praise & worship)  (Click Here)

May the Spirit, who set the Church on fire upon the
day of Pentecost,
bring the world alive with the love of the risen Christ.
And the blessing of God almighty,
the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit,
be among you and remain with you always.

Waiting expectantly for the promised Holy Spirit,
go in the peace of Christ. Alleluia, alleluia.

Thanks be to God. Alleluia, Alleluia.
